As a part of our WAYFARERS Exhibition, Finnish artist Tomi Knuutila will install CLIMATABLE, an arduino-based interactive table with 4 separate hotspots for 4 different data sets, which have been collected from various online scientific research databases. The data used documents climate change from various points of view – CO2 levels in Mauna Loa in 1959-2016, annual global mean land and ocean temperature anomalies between 1850 and 2016 and seasonal sea ice extent in the Northern hemisphere from 1870 to 2007 – allowing the public multiple ways to access and review the environmental changes taking place around us.

Tomi will join us in the installation space to discuss his work.

Taking its cue from the metaphor of passage, Highlight Arctic’s visual/media art exhibition, WAYFARERS, responds to the ecological changes affecting the Arctic and our attempts to navigate our newly configured world.

WAYFARERS runs from 25th February to 19th March and is a part of the Highlight Arts Arctic programme, which will launch in full on 2nd March.
