Emily Ballou

Emily Ballou is an American-Australian poet, novelist and screenwriter who took part in the poetry translation workshops as part of our 2011 festival in Lebanon.

She is also the author of the verse-biography of Charles Darwin The Darwin Poems, (University of Western Australian Press) which was awarded the Wesley Michel Wright Poetry Prize in 2010. More recently, she was anthologized in Carcanet’s Oxford Poets, 2013.

She adapted two episodes of Christos Tsiolkas’ The Slap (BBC4), nominated for International Emmy, BAFTA, and Royal TV Society Awards. She’s written for Case Histories (BBC1), Scott and Bailey (ITV) and the National Geographic TV movie American Blackout (with husband Ewan Morrison). She has recently adapted Shaun Tan’s The Arrival for American producer Nick Wechsler. She lives in Glasgow.
